Place: Sea You Beach Bar in Paphos. Shells, Coconuts and XXL Crepes

8 December 2019

Wonderful restaurants in the West of the island are another reason why I love the West coast. The first reason, however, is that we do not live in this area and thus do not see rubbish or face household issues. And every trip to Paphos is a holiday for me. It is either a hike to and through the Avakas Gorge, or safari in Akamas National Park. Or it might be a stroll near the sea caves and then a dinner at a favorite restaurant. Saint George Restaurant in Pegeia has been our favourite for a while, until we fell in love with a couple of others…

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce to you Sea You Beach Bar – a sea mosaic with a view over the anxious Mediterranean.

  • Location: Kissonerga, 34.833943, 32.391956
  • Season: until mid November
  • Open: from 10 am to midnight
  • Average bill: 45 euros for two
  • Instagram: @seayoubeachbar_official
  • Get to Sea You from Paphos or Coral Bay: via bus 615
  • 10 km from Paphos (13 minutes by car)
  • 80 km from Limassol (1h 15 min by car)

For 2 years of life in Cyprus and N number of trips to Potima Bay, I have never seen calm waves here.

Beware of them. It is exactly the place where last year Poseidon blessed me with pebbles against my face which ended with a huge bump on my forehead. However, a dinner at Sea You, friendly service and the atmosphere of a light-hearted pastime gave a good compensation.

Crepes here are cooked for desperate crepe-lovers – all of them are of an XXL size, without exception. One is enough to feed three persons. We were not aware of it during our first visit and added a modest burger to our lunch. And were happy to receive a standard size.

Local coconuts, as well as cocktails made of them, are so popular that on weekends they get sold out by 4pm. Even on palm trees. All along the coast.

Not only does the bar make us happy with cocktails and smoothies which are so nourishing that one may substitute a lunch, but also a variety of salads, as well as fish and meat dishes, is what’s worth trying.

Last, but not least: the interior. Every detail here sings about a carefree summer: shell and pebble garlands, dry palm leaves and installations made of stones and starfish, ship rope fences and wooden finishes. If you are looking for a location for a stylish summer photoshoot, why not consider a cute bar 10 km from Paphos?

One significant drawback for me here is a huge amount of garbage spread 20 meters west of the bar and further. Either energetic waves bring it all from the sea, or the proximity to the road is the one to blame. Unfortunately, the administration of Sea You only cares about the territory in the immediate vicinity of the bar.

Nevertheless, its competitors do not have a single chance while it exists.

Sincerely,

Alisa Abramova
